Team Pictures and you…

The pictures that appear when you mouse over your players can be customized.  You can even have different pictures for two players that have the same positions (meaning you can have 2 Elf Linemen that have different images).

All of this can be found in section 14 of the readme.txt file, but here is a more detailed set of instructions, and a step by step guide on how to do it with a convention to make it work for all teams across the league:

  1. Go find/make the jpg or gif
  2. These should be about 100 X 140 pixels (1.4 X 1.9 inches) or so.  Basically, it has to fit in that little widow where the stats and skills are displayed.
  3. Go into the folder where the Bbowl.jar and the teams, sound and results folders are located and create a new folder called “bbpics”
  4. Put all of your (and other teams') custom pics in there.
  5. Go into the teams folder and edit the htm(or html) file of your team.  For those who don’t know how to do that, just open it in notepad or wordpad (hold the SHIFT key and right click the file.  Select notepad).  Don’t use the team editor, it’s not that kind of edit.
  6. Add the following bit of code right before the </body> tag:

    Team Pictures
    <TABLE><TR>
    <TD><IMG SRC="bbpics\player1.jpg"></TD>
    <TD><IMG SRC="bbpics\player2.jpg"></TD>
    <TD><IMG SRC="bbpics\player3.jpg"></TD>
    <TD><IMG SRC="bbpics\player4.jpg"></TD>
    <TD><IMG SRC="bbpics\player5.jpg"></TD>
    <TD><IMG SRC="bbpics\player6.jpg"></TD>
    <TD><IMG SRC="bbpics\player7.jpg"></TD>
    <TD><IMG SRC="bbpics\player8.jpg"></TD>
    <TD><IMG SRC="bbpics\player9.jpg"></TD>
    <TD><IMG SRC="bbpics\player10.jpg"></TD>
    <TD><IMG SRC="bbpics\player11.jpg"></TD>
    <TD><IMG SRC="bbpics\player12.jpg"></TD>
    </TR></TABLE>

  7. Replace the "player1.gif" (etc.) with the name of your custom picture.  You can also skip players by adding a "<TD></TD>" line in for each player you want to skip.  For example:

    Team Pictures
    <TABLE><TR>
    <TD></TD>
    <TD></TD>
    <TD><IMG SRC="bbpics\HarryPalms.gif"></TD>
    </TR></TABLE>

That’s it you’re done.

I highly suggest saving the bit of code that you just added to a text file, because you will have to add it every time you download your team from the locker room.

The only problem is, only people who have the images on their machine can see them.  Meaning, only people who downloaded HarryPalms.gif and put it in the “bbpics” folder, would see it.  Otherwise it would show the default Dwarf Runner picture.  So, for those interested, you can send your player pictures zipped into a single file to admin@soapyfrog.net and they will be posted on this very page for your downloading pleasure. The trick is as long as everybody put the images in the same folder and has the same path for the image source, we only have to worry about adding the snippet of code to our own teams.

Also, since everyone’s images are in the same folder, I highly suggest that you put your team short name in the image name to be sure we don’t have 2 images with the same name.  For Example:

<TD><IMG SRC="bbpics\SURLYagamemnon.gif"></TD>
