Loanshark Rules
Based heavily on a proposal from Coach AresMars, Banner Guard Bloods

Say hello to your friendly neighbourhood Loanshark, Eddie Da Fish.  Try to ignore the fact that his teeth are filed to points and he is flanked by two enormous Black Orcs... he has the cash, and you need it!  Sure he'll ask for a little interest, or Vig (short for "Vigorish", an ancient Kislev term for "winnings" or "gambling profits", and often capitalized for emphasis) but it doesn't seem like so much, right?  Of course you can pay him back after the next game... or two... or three... and if you can't? Those Black Orcs are heavy and packing a various assortment of pain-enhancing devices that would make a Minotaur cringe... and rumour has it they sometimes contract out wetwork to Bhandayd and Tutenkarnage, two mummies currently on vacation form the league (some of you know them well, I am told).  Well needless to say, don't get on his bad side!

The Vigorish
or, Just How Much Will it Cost?

Table 1 covers the Vig that Eddie will extract for various size loans. Yes, large loans have exorbitant Vig and would be hard, perhaps even impossible to payback, so take care how much you ask for!  Don't bite off more than you can chew. As you can see a loan can be requested for a period of 1-3 games, denoting the timespan in which the principal is to be paid back.  The Vig is expected to be paid after each and every game including the game after which the principal is repaid.  Eddie will not accept repayment of the principal before it is due, because he has plans for the Vig you must pay him while the loan is in your hands... Eddie likes his money, he especially likes to see it grow. Also, Eddie will not lend you new loans if you already owe him money. Full repayment of your previous loan must occur before you can request a new loan. In order to request a loan form Eddie, send a polite email to loanshark@soapyfrog.net and Eddie will make the funds available to you and inform you of what he expects in terms of Vig, which you can see on Table 1 below.

Repayment
or, Where's My Money!?

Eddie expects prompt repayment.  Repayment is accomplished by sending a note to loanshark@soapyfrog.net, whereupon the amount that is being repaid will be deducted from your treasury. Remember the Vig is due every game for the period of the loan. If you fail to pay the Vig on time or even worse, the principal, then Eddie will start to take a personal interest in your affairs.  Eddie is certainly not above a little not-so-gentle persuasion to show that he means business.  In the event of a failure to pay some or all of the Vig or principal, a roll will be made on Table 2 which determines how Eddie will react to your transgression.  Paying the at least the Vig, or better a significant chunk of the principal (50% or more) will assuage his feelings somewhat (although the Vig for the full amount will continue to be charged for each game), but total failure to repay can result in very dire consequences indeed.

Table 2: Missed Payment Table   Modifiers to Die Roll
Dice Used Roll   Result   Mod Condition
1d6 1 or less   Loanshark distracted by other issues, VIG accumulates as normal, no other effect   -1 VIG paid in full
+ Modifiers 2   Loanshark in a good mood, outstanding and future VIG doubled    -2 At least half of Principal paid
3   Loanshark in a good mood, outstanding and future VIG doubled    +1 Per game payment is past due
4   Eddie's Boyz Guido and Nuncio pay you a visit; roll on Table 3   +1 Debt 40k or greater
5   Eddie's Boyz Guido and Nuncio pay you a visit; roll on Table 3 with a +1 modifier   +2 Debt 80k or greater
6 or more   Eddie's Boyz Guido and Nuncio pay you a visit; roll on Table 3 with a +2 modifier

Guido and Nuncio
or, This'll Only Hurt a Bit...

If Guido and Nuncio pay you a visit, a roll on Table 3 is made. Eddie needs to retain his self-respect, and serious infractions cannot go unpunished otherwise his status as a loanshark and his credibility in the underworld will be cast into serious doubt.  It is possible that he may decide you are a lost cause, and start doing some serious damage to your organization, "pour encouragez les autres", as it were. Staff members or players may miss games due to harassment, intimidation, or even short kidnappings. Even worse, Eddie's enforcers may decide to get a little boxing practice in using your players as punching bags (speed bags in the case of the stunty players out there)... in case you think they are cowardly bullies, you should know they are perfectly capable of reducing a full-grown Kroxigor to a bloody pulp, and of course they always have reinforcements on call... Eddie will brook no expense to deal with punks who defy him!  Again, repayment of the outstanding Vig or a significant chunk of the principal may moderate Guido and Nuncio's actions, as may having a small organization (Eddie does want to retain the chance that you will pay him SOME money, after all, and completely crippling your team would not be seen as a good move in that light).  With that in mind, keep in mind that penalties can extend up to and including the random assassination of your players, so it is best, once again, to pay your loans on time!!

Table 3: Eddie's Boyz Guido and Nuncio pay you a Visit   Modifiers to Table 3 Die Roll
Dice Used Roll   Result   Mod Condition
1d6 1 or less   You gave those bumbling fools the slip!!   -2 VIG paid in full
+ Modifiers 2   d6 Assistant Coaches miss next game (if none, roll again)   -2 At least half of Principal paid
3   d6 Cheerleaders miss next game (if none, roll again)   +2 Per game payment is past due
4   Apothecary misses next game (if none, roll again)   -1 Roster of 7 or less
5   Random player misses next game   0 Roster of 8-10
6   Random player misses next game   +1 Roster of 11-14
7   d3 Random players miss next game   +2 Roster of 15-16
8   d3 Random players miss next game   +1 Debt 40k or greater
9   Random player must roll on the serious injury table and miss the next game   +2 Debt 80k or greater
10   Random player must roll on the serious injury table and miss the next game   +? Modifier from Table 2
11   d3 Random players must roll on the serious injury table and miss the next game
12 or more   Random player killed

Please note the Coach in question will be informed (i.e. copied on all dice server rolls) of all results relating to non-payment of loans and all their effects. That's it!  We here at the DragonBBL administration welcome you to view Eddie as a useful guy to know for getting over those little rough patches, but we would caution you not spiral into debt as it could finish off your team as surely as a string of nasty pitch invasions...
